Mario & Casa is the expression of designer Mario Gagliardi's lifelong vision to create furniture, rugs, fabrics and objects with an identity of their own: objects shaped by imagination, material intelligence, memory and the unmistakable presence of human hands. It seeks permanence without nostalgia, individuality without spectacle, and beauty that deepens through use and time.
The Vision
With Italian and Austrian roots, Mario Gagliardi studied at the University of Applied Arts Vienna under Alessandro Mendini and Richard Sapper before building an international career across Europe, East Asia and the Middle East. Moving between cultures, traditions and radically different ideas of modernity shaped his understanding of design as a form of inquiry: a way of asking how objects can give physical form to values, emotions and ways of living.
His work belongs to a long artistic conversation about the relationship between idea and matter. From the Renaissance workshop to the Arts and Crafts movement, from the Gesamtkunstwerk to the radical experiments of twentieth-century Italian design, the object has repeatedly been understood as more than a functional instrument. It can embody a worldview. Every Mario & Casa piece begins within this territory, with a narrative, a question, and a search for the right proportion, color and material through which an idea can become tangible.

The process replaces the conventional choice between predetermined variations with something more exploratory: a visual quest in which personal taste, architectural context and individual intuition gradually converge into a singular composition.
