The forest's heart is laid flat here; the grain map tells a slow story of time upon a surface awaiting feasts and talk; hands meet across the grain's time lines—listen, for the wood speaks low. The top plate of the Metamorfosi table series is constructed from a hand- welded steel frame on which a hand-polished Ash veneer is applied. The four legs are hand- lathed or hand-carved and hand-polished in solid Ash wood.Named after deities in Ovid’s Metamorphoses, Metamorfosi are offered with four different, exchangeable leg designs. The Empire
An hommage to the conoisseurship of the Malanotti De Caldes family. Next to their own production of fine wool and silk, they also maintained amicable relations to fine fabric makers in Asia, importing their silks to Venice.In the eighteenth century, the Qing empire was the largest and most prosperous country in the world, producing an enormous number of refined cultural and artistic works. In ceramic art, vivid color was a result of imperial admiration for European enamel objects. Eugenie Malanotti De Caldes, grandmother of De Caldes designer Mario Gagliardi, in reverence to these friendships collected Chinese porcelain objects and raised Japanese cherry trees in her vast garden. Handcrafted and hand-carved by De Caldes artisans in 100% New Zealand wool, this exceptional rug comes in two color variations: Shades of yellow and purple, and shades of tangerine and blue.
Aitutaki
Feel the subtle give and the return of strength; it feels alive under weight, pressure, and breath—a responsive form. Inspired by a seashell found on the South Pacific island of Aitutaki, this generous, comfortable lounge chair is constructed from a hand-welded steel frame. Individually hand-sculpted, padded cushions are then hand-sewn to the frame, covered with fine calf leather and finished with a hand-stitched piping. A bottom construction with sculpted legs made from black lacquered, open-pore Ash completes this chair.
Gran Turismo
The line holds the space with calm authority; the large form breathes quiet power. Inspired by the smooth and stylish rides in the legendary Italian Gran Turismo cars built between the nineteen- thirties and sixties, this upholstered chair is built the traditional way. A padded boxspring seat with internal metal springs is suspended in a bent and padded plywood shell for amazing sitting comfort. Tofukuji
For this rug, designer Mario Gagliardi was inspired by the Suna patterns in the gardens of Tofuku - Ji temple in Kyoto. The pattern comes about by the play of light and shadow on its meticulously hand-sculpted pile. Handmade in 100% natural New Zealand Wool, 220 x 180 cm.
