The Renaissance discovery of optical perspective was prominently celebrated in the Sala Delle Prospettive, designed by Baldassare Peruzzi in the Villa Farnesina in Rome. Designer Mario Gagliardi was inspired by Trompe l'oeil paintings of the Renaissance, adding his characteristic bold colors and a comic strip inspired stripe pattern.
