Ventura is both a sculptural object and a functional artefact. Carved from dark-stained wood, its surface is smooth, its edges subtly softened. The dining table’s base is a rhythmic colonnade of sculpted supports. These legs achieve a paradoxical lightness. Their arching negative space invites the eye to flow continuously through the piece, while their volume anchors the table to the ground with a sense of tectonic permanence. The repetition of these sculptural forms lends a cadence to the object, transforming it into an architectural gesture more reminiscent of ancient megaliths than conventional joinery. Ventura insists on matter, weight, and shadow. It is a meditation in hardwood on the enduring power of physical form.
